Summary

  • iCloud folder sharing
  • Focus on folders
  • Highlight text and add notes to PDFs
  • Edit saved searches with additional options for dates, tags and more
  • Improvements to notes, the info view, and more

iCloud Folder Sharing

  • Share top-level folders with iCloud by choosing File > Add People to [folder] from the menu, or by selecting the folder and clicking the Add People button in the toolbar.
  • Shared folders cannot contain bundles, saved searches or other individually shared items.
  • Shared folders are indicated by an icon on the top-level folder.
  • Only the owner of the shared folder can rename the top-level folder, or move existing folders into a shared folder, but anyone can create and rename folders inside a shared folder.
  • Only the owner can remove folders and items from shared folders, or move them to folders outside the top-level shared folder’s hierarchy.
  • Anyone can add new or existing items to a shared folder, but the owner of the folder will then have ownership of all the items.
  • When the owner stops sharing a folder, it’ll be removed from all other participants’ libraries.
  • Other participants can remove the top-level folder to stop sharing it.
  • As with individually shared items, tags and labels are not shared, but each user can add their own.
  • The owner’s iCloud storage will be used for all items in the shared folder.

Focus On Folders

  • Double-click any folder that can be expanded to focus on it, hiding all folders not in that hierarchy.
  • Click the x button next to a focused folder to stop focusing on it.
  • To focus on a folder in Compact Mode, right-click or Ctrl-click and choose Focus from the menu shown.

Searches

  • Saved searches can now be nested in the folders they target. Moving a saved search to a folder changes it to search that folder.
  • Create a saved search without using the search field by choosing File > New Saved Search from the menu.
  • When saving the current search, the saved search editor will be presented.
  • Edit an existing search by double-clicking it in the sidebar or by choosing File > Edit Saved Search from the menu.
  • Saved searches can now filter items that are tagged / untagged or labelled / unlabelled. These options can only be specified in the saved search editor, but can be manipulated in the search field.

  • Searches can now match on or before, or on or after the specified date.
  • Searches can now match against file names, either in the saved search editor, or with the filename: keywords in the search field.

PDFs

  • Choose from a variety of highlight colors using the highlight toolbar button. The last used color will be saved as the default.
  • To remove a highlight select the highlighted text and click the highlight button, and choose Remove Highlight from the PDF or contextual menu.
  • Add notes to a highlight by right-clicking the highlighted text and choosing Add Note from the menu.
  • View / edit notes by clicking on the highlighted text.
  • If the library is using iCloud, the default highlight color will be shared across all devices.

Notes & Rich Text

  • Choose from a variety of highlight colors using the highlight toolbar button in the format bar. The last used color will be saved as the default.
  • If the library is using iCloud, the default highlight color will be shared across all devices.
